Stakeholder Social Media Amplification
Tourism Ucluelet’s Social Media Channels
Tourism Ucluelet uses social media to help inspire responsible travel, support local businesses, and share the experiences that make Ucluelet unique. Our Instagram and Facebook channels include a mix of content sourced from the community, content shared through tags and collaboration requests, and original content created by our team.
Below, you’ll find more information on the difference between tagging Tourism Ucluelet and requesting a collaboration post, including how each option works and when to use them.
In addition to resharing stakeholder content, Tourism Ucluelet also creates original social media content that highlights local businesses, events, experiences, and community partners. We do our best to spread these opportunities across different businesses and sectors as fairly as possible, and we are always open to hearing from stakeholders who have ideas or are interested in being featured.
If you would like Tourism Ucluelet to consider creating original content with your business, please reach out to community@discoverucluelet.com. We’ll review the opportunity and consider how your story, event, or experience could fit into our social media calendar.
How to Get Featured on Tourism Ucluelet’s Social Media
There are two main ways to be featured through Tourism Ucluelet’s social media channels: tagging us in your content or inviting us to collaborate on an Instagram post or Reel. Both are useful, but they serve slightly different purposes.
1. Tag Tourism Ucluelet or Use Our Hashtags
Tagging is the easiest and most flexible way to bring your content to our attention. Generally speaking, businesses, event organizers, and community partners are welcome to tag Tourism Ucluelet in content they would like us to see.
When you tag Tourism Ucluelet or use our hashtags, your post remains on your own profile, but our team may see it and choose to reshare it to our Stories, repost it, or request permission to feature it through our channels.
Tourism Ucluelet uses CrowdRiff to help source content from public accounts that tag us or use relevant hashtags. To increase your chances of being featured, please:
- Tag @TourismUcluelet in your Instagram posts, Reels, or Stories
- Tag Tourism Ucluelet on Facebook
- Use the hashtag #MyUcluelet
- Consider also using #Ucluelet and #TourismUcluelet
- Make sure your account is set to public
Story resharing is often the quickest way for us to amplify timely content, such as events, promotions, updates, or shorter posts that may not require a full collaboration. We are generally more flexible with what we reshare to Stories, provided the content is appropriate, accurate, and relevant to visitors or the local community.
Tagging does not automatically publish your content on Tourism Ucluelet’s page. It simply helps our team find your content for potential resharing or future use.
If your business account is private, or if you prefer a more direct approach, you can also email content to Tourism Ucluelet for consideration.

2. Invite Tourism Ucluelet to Collaborate on Instagram
Instagram collaboration posts work differently than tags. A collaboration post is original content created and published by your business, with Tourism Ucluelet invited as a collaborator. If Tourism Ucluelet accepts the invitation, the post or Reel can appear on both your profile and Tourism Ucluelet’s profile, with both accounts listed as co-authors.
This can be a strong way to have your content featured directly on the Tourism Ucluelet Instagram page, while keeping your business as the original creator of the content.
Because collaboration posts appear directly on Tourism Ucluelet’s profile, they are reviewed more carefully than general tags or Story reshares. Collaborative posts should be more thoughtful and intentional, with strong visuals, clear messaging, and alignment with Tourism Ucluelet’s brand guidelines and Destination BC’s content guidelines, which are outlined below.
Before sending a collaboration request, please message Tourism Ucluelet’s social media coordinator directly and let them know:
- What the post or Reel is about
- When you plan to publish it
- Why you would like Tourism Ucluelet to collaborate
- Any relevant campaign, event, or business details
Once the post is ready, you can invite @TourismUcluelet as a collaborator through Instagram’s “Invite collaborator” feature. Collaboration requests must be reviewed and approved by our team. Acceptance is not guaranteed, and content must align with Tourism Ucluelet’s brand, values, safety standards, and current content priorities.
Tourism Ucluelet is currently working on clearer guidelines for collaboration posts, including how often stakeholders may request collaborations and how these opportunities will be managed fairly across businesses, events, and community partners.
Tagging vs. Collaborating: What’s the Difference?
Tagging helps Tourism Ucluelet find your content. Your post stays on your own page, and our team may choose to reshare it to Stories, repost it, or reach out for permission to feature it. Tagging is best for general visibility, timely updates, event reminders, promotions, and content that you would like our team to be aware of.
Collaborating is a more formal request to co-publish a post or Reel. If Tourism Ucluelet accepts the collaboration invitation, the content may appear on both accounts and be shared with both audiences. Collaboration posts are best suited for stronger, more intentional content that has clear visitor value, strong production quality, and alignment with the guidelines outlined below.
Best Practices for Businesses
For the best chance of being featured, please share content that is clear, accurate, visually strong, and relevant to visitors or the local community. Seasonal experiences, events, business updates, responsible travel messaging, behind-the-scenes content, and high-quality photos or Reels are all welcome for consideration.
For quick amplification, tag @TourismUcluelet and use #MyUcluelet. For more polished content that you would like to appear directly on Tourism Ucluelet’s profile, please contact our social media coordinator before sending a collaboration request.
